He states with a grin "God sings the songs, I just write them down".
Raymond Fry in studio with artist Joshua Hayes
Ray began his career in 1964 at the age of 15.
He gigged as lead vocalist with a number of bands around London, Brighton and Kent and would often throw in a line or two when they were songwriting although he didn't take lyric writing seriously at the time. It wasn't until the 1970s when he began to take his writing more seriously. He began to sell his lyrics from his back catalogue whilst also crafting new ones for the artists and bands that he had worked with and befriended over the years, and it wasn't long before he was making a very modest income from it. He worked a part time day job as an insurance clerk at that time in order to subsidise the bills. He continued to gig occasionally but knew that his true calling was writing and crafting lyrics.
In 1979, he began to write with a male artist/band that eventually got signed in 1980 to an independent record label. Due to his work with the artist, Ray was subsequently contracted to the label in 1981 as a ghost-writer under a non-disclosure agreement to write, re-write or polish lyrics for their artists . Ray wrote in a number of music genres including ballads, pop, rock, and jazz. Ray did not renew his contract for a fourth three year term when it ran out in 1990 and the label was taken over by a major label.
Ray then teamed up with composer/maestro/producer Farnoosh Behzad and Trumpet player 'PJ' as founders and directors of "Thirdeye music productions" writing original songs and developing and recording new artists.
Ray was then given the opportunity by his good friend and Guitarist 'Peter Lorenz' to re-locate “Thirdeye music productions” to 'Stepping stone studios' a large studio complex Located at 57 Windsor road, Willesden north west London which had been built by Peter Lorenz and financed by his generous music loving family. Ray re-designed and refurbished the main recording studio `A` and also installed a pre-production suite and office. `Stepping Stone Studios` and 'Thirdeye Music productions' entered into a joint venture agreement whereas Thirdeye facilitated, recorded, produced, co-wrote, and developed artists & bands. Studio Clients included: Natalie Imbruglia, Limahl, Future sound of London, Hue Cornwall (Stranglers), Millennium Girls, Hotai, Michele Chiavarini, and others. During this time as a freelance lyricist, Ray co-wrote 22 songs for the jazz musical `Right here right now` which showcased at the Edmund Keen Theatre in London. Also whilst located at Stepping Stone, Third Eye composed and produced the urban musical "Inner City Jam" which showcased at the Cockpit theatre starring (soul to soul artist "Juliet Roberts". Also the R'n'B musical "White folks" a Musical Fable" which showcased at the `Cochran theatre` starring `Sinitta` before going on to run at the `Nottingham Playhouse Leeds. Thirdeye co-director Niki Clarke also wrote arranged and produced songs for the pop group 'The Honeyz', and solo artists `Kele Le Roc', 'Lemar' and 'Kelle Bryan', previously from the pop group Eternal.
In 2000 Ray was forced into early retirement due to his Trumpet player partner 'PJ' who had unfortunately gotten himself involved with people who introduced him to cocaine and he ended up stealing all the companies equipment as well as microphones belonging to my friend Peter Lorenz and equipment belonging to our joint venture partners Stepping Stone Studios. PJ who was also the company secretary had placed a virus into the joint ventures computer so all records of accounts and bookings were lost. Ray, who now had no equipment to continue was also left to pay off a Thirdeye bank loan of £4,500.00. In 2001 Peters family sold the Stepping Stone Studio complex and it's new owners renamed it "Resident studio's" which is still in operation today and is renowned for having one of the best sounding live rooms in London.
Ray picked up the pen again in mid 2011, re-kindling his relationship with his original manager who eventually retired in 2012. He set up an international song-writing and production team which are co-writing songs for and with our artists in various genres of music. We are also writing for film, television, theatre, and placement with established artists.
In March 2015 Ray became a director of Oracle Records Ltd but found that his daily duties at Midas King Productions left him little time to craft lyrics so resigned his position in July 2016. He is now happily doing what he loves best.
Ray has co-written a number of singles and and also EP for artist `Sheaam Dean` . The EP was released on 1st October 2016 by Oracle records. He and members of his team have also co-written an album for American artist `Amaryllis Santiago` due to be released in October 2017. Ray also co-wrote an EP which was released in March 2017 for the American smooth Jazz R'nB artist Steve Jai Johnson and others.

Amaryllis Santiago - Artist and Independent Music Professional
I am writing this recommendation for Ray after collaborating with him for almost a year. Throughout the year, we have had many conversations on the music industry, styles, genres, and staying true to oneself's vocation, passion, and instinct. Ray has an outstanding ability to pen lyrics based on first giving the credit to our Creator God and then for the person he is writing the song for. He always asks if the lyrics are suitable or if the lyrics have touched the artist. He doesn't just write for the sake of writing. He writes for the sake of creating timeless lyrics to music that lasts and touches those that hear it. I can attest to his utmost professionalism, tireless dedication, truth, and the ability to work in unison with people from all demographics without being judgemental. I am honoured to be collaborating with Ray and his team who have become part of my musical journey.

Raymond is a very unique lyricist. He is incredibly passionate about music and puts all of his energy into his job. I have engineered for Ray and his artist on several occasions, and collaborated with him in procuring vocal recordings from the artist that he was working with at the time. I am pleased that I was given the chance to see how he operates and I was impressed by his dedication to detail when directing how the lyric should be sung to the melodies. It was refreshing that he remained open minded to my suggestions and allowed me to express them freely to the artist. Certainly one of the few I've worked with that does his job with patience, great passion, and good manners. He has years of experience in the music industry and I would recommend his work to anyone. I look forward to working with him again in the near future
